We were planned for God’s pleasure (Day 8)

on March 3, 2012

“The Lord takes pleasure in his people.” ~ (Psalm 149:4a, TEV)

Worship is the act of bringing pleasure to God. We worship when we sing, lift up praises and acknowledge His presence in our lives. As His children, we must keep in mind always that worship is for His benefit.  It brings glory to our King.

Worship is the catalyst to fire up the heart, the homing device God placed within us.  When our hearts are aligned with Him, worship is as natural as breathing.  Worship is our life.

The secret to having and maintaining this lifestyle is to do everything as if we’re doing it for Jesus.  It’s like being in love – you always think about them, want to be with them, always talk about them.  Love is the  foundation of worship; in this case, it’s like being in love with the Lord.  Kirk Whalum and Jonathan Butler express this sentiment in the song Falling In Love With Jesus:

Falling in love with Jesus
Falling in love with Jesus
Falling in love with Jesus
Was the best thing I ever, ever done

In His arms I feel protected
In His arms never disconnected
In HIs arms I feel protected
There’s no place I’d rather rather be

May our praise be genuine, forever pleasing our Lord, both until the day He comes back for us and when we’re rejoicing in heaven above.
